John 5: 24 “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.”
What struck me: I love the way Jesus expresses what happens to a person on the day they believe. At the moment of faith, we “cross over”. It makes me think of crossing over something large – like crossing over an ocean or crossing over a mountain. Notice, also, the word is past tense. "he has crossed over"... It’s already happened. Because of faith, my soul has gone from death to life. It's already happened. I've crossed over.
